The 3Arena in Dublin was opened in 2008 on December 16th, and it is located at the North Wall Quay, not far from the tunnel leading you to Dublin Airport and several other destinations in Ireland. The venue was built at the location of a former theatre named the Point theatre. It is currently one of the busiest concert venues in the world, and in 2011 it was the second busiest with the O2 Arena in London at first place. In 2012 it was named the fifth busiest concert venue in the world.
The 3 Arena was known as the O2 Arena until 2014, but since then it has been renamed to 3Arena due to the new ownership. It has space for 14,500 spectators (combination of sitting and standing). If everyone is to sit down the capacity is “only” 9,500 people. The venue is owned by Live Nation and has since its opening been visited by for example Guns N’ Roses, Lady GaGa and U2. The o2 venue has also been used for several theatrical events, musicals and similar performances.
